Introduction to the Spring 2025 Elections

This semester, we are excited to announce the upcoming appointments for both elected and appointed positions, where students can run for various positions, representing their peers and contributing to important decisions affecting student life. 

⏳ Deadline: Applications will be accepted from 8:30 AM on Friday, January 10 through 5:30 PM on Tuesday, January 14.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Full-time student status 
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for Senators
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 for all other positions
  • Good financial standing with IUGB 
  • Adherence to the University’s Code of Ethics 
  • Serves a one-year term (all positions end with September 2025 elections)
OPEN POSITIONS OVERVIEW
A.  Executive Cabinet
  1. 1 Assistant to Chief of Staff: responsible for taking minutes, keeping them organized, and making them available to students.
B.  Programming Department (PD)
We’re excited to announce the reorganization of this department. They have grown to five committees needing 5-8 members per committee. 
  1. Assemblymanages club resources, monitors compliance with university policies, and supports assemblies in achieving their goals while ensuring alignment with the SGA’s mission
  2. EventsPlan, organize, and oversee all campus events, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with the university’s and SGA’s objectives.
  3. BallOrganize and execute the university’s annual ball, ensuring a memorable and well-coordinated event that reflects the SGA’s vision.
  4. Midterm Breakensures that the break is well-planned, productive, and aligns with the university’s academic and social goals.
  5. Outreachfostering meaningful connections, strengthening community ties, and collaborating with local organizations to enhance student engagement in Bassam.
C. Communications Department (CD)
  1. 2 Creative Team: content creation
  2. 1 Design Team: online presence
  3. 2 Media Team: external media presence
  4. 2 Public Relations Team: reputation management
D.  Legislative Branch (LB)
The LB is made up of three areas: a) Senators, b) Legislative Committees, & c) Advocacy Department
  1. 2 Senior Senators
  2. 1 Sophomore Senator
  3. Parliamentary Secretary (must type 30 words per minute)
